Star-Studded Event in Seoul
The 2024 Newsis K-Expo was a remarkable occasion held on August 22 in Seoul. This annual event honors individuals who have significantly contributed to the development of K-culture over the year. Organized with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Seoul Metropolitan Council, Korea Creative Content Agency, and the Seoul Tourism Organization, the event was a testament to the global influence of Korean culture.
Key Highlights and Award Winners
This year’s ceremony was graced by some of the most prominent names in the industry. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Award was given to Kim Soo Hyun for his remarkable performance in tvN’s “Queen of Tears.” Go Min Si, recognized for her role in Netflix’s “Sweet Home” (Seasons 1-3), received the Seoul Mayor Award.
Among other notable winners, Byun Yo Han and Kim Hye Yoon were honored with the National Assembly’s Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee’s Chairman Award for their outstanding contributions in Disney’s “Uncle Samsik” and tvN’s “Lovely Runner,” respectively. The Seoul Metropolitan Council’s Chairman Award went to the talented groups H1-KEY and Plave.
Special Recognitions
The Seoul Tourism Organization’s President Award acknowledged the exceptional work of Chae Jong Hyeop, known for his roles in TBS’s “Eye Love You” and tvN’s “Serendipity’s Embrace,” as well as WJSN’s Bona for her stellar performance in Tving’s “Pyramid Game.” Meanwhile, the Korea Creative Content Agency Award celebrated Modhaus’s CEO Jaden Jeong (Jeong Byeong Gi) for producing the group TRIPLES. A special Hallyu Award was presented to Big Ocean for their contributions to K-pop.
