Introduction to the New Route

Travelers on the West Coast will soon have a new way to reach Amsterdam nonstop. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is launching a new flight between Portland, Oregon, and Amsterdam starting on October 27. This new route will replace the Delta Air Lines flight currently operating between these two cities.

Flight Details and Schedule

The new KLM flight will operate year-round on a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. In the winter, the flight will run three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. In the summer, this frequency will increase to five times a week, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Each flight will offer 30 World Business Class seats, 21 Premium Comfort Class seats, and 224 Economy seats.

Benefits for Travelers

Boaz Hulsman, Vice President of Commercial for North America at Air France-KLM, shared that the new service provides passengers in Portland with convenient connections to KLM’s extensive network across Europe and beyond. Beyond Amsterdam, travelers can fly direct to several other European cities, including Frankfurt, Iceland, and London. This new route will enhance KLM’s transatlantic network and reaffirm their commitment to connecting people and places.

Partnership and Loyalty Benefits

As part of the SkyTeam alliance, KLM and Delta Air Lines are partners, allowing members of each airline’s loyalty program to enjoy the benefits of their elite status when flying. KLM, the world’s oldest airline still operating under its original name, offers special perks like gifting travelers in business class Delft Blue miniature houses filled with Dutch gin, a tradition since the 1950s.

Conclusion

The new KLM service will allow connections to over 100 cities across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and India via KLM’s extensive hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Additionally, customers can connect to Delta’s U.S. network via Portland. This new route represents an exciting opportunity for travelers and reaffirms the strong partnership between KLM and Delta Air Lines.
