A Rookie Mindset in Acting

In a recent feature for Harper’s Bazaar Korea, actress Go Youn Jung opened up about her journey in the world of acting, expressing a humble yet passionate perspective. During the photo shoot, she candidly shared her thoughts, stating, “When I’m on set, I feel there’s still so much I don’t know. That’s why I still feel like a rookie in many ways.” This ‘rookie’ mindset, as she describes it, serves as a reminder of her excitement for the craft.

Learning Through Experience

Go Youn Jung, who has just completed filming for the tvN drama “Resident Playbook” as well as the upcoming Netflix series “Can This Love Be Translated?”, expressed her evolving understanding of acting. She remarked, “Both dramas and films are areas where it’s ultimately up to the public to evaluate them, so I still don’t really know what’s right or wrong.” This recognition of the subjective nature of performance underlines her commitment to continuous learning and adaptation on set.

Embracing the Joy of Acting

As she reflects on her experiences, Go Youn Jung noted that she has become more comfortable and engaged in her work. “When I didn’t know much about filming sets, I would be so tense that I’d stiffen up, but now that I at least understand how things work on set, acting is becoming more and more fun,” she shared. Her enthusiasm is palpable, as she added, “It’s like last year was more enjoyable than the year before, and this year is more enjoyable than last year.” In her view, her current phase in acting is perhaps the most fulfilling chapter of her career thus far.
