Lately, there’s been some buzz online about Shen Jiayu supposedly being heavily promoted by her agency. But in reality, the situation isn’t quite as special as some might think.
Shen Jiayu is currently signed to a relatively new agency called Muguang Times, which was actually founded by the son of the CEO of Daylight Entertainment (正午阳光). Over the past couple of years, this company has signed several new faces. Their approach seems to be pretty clear—they give everyone a fair shot, and whoever gains public favor and builds a name for themselves will get more support.
So it’s not really about Shen Jiayu getting special attention. She’s in the same boat as the other rookies, all trying to prove themselves. So far, none of the new signees have truly broken out, which means the company hasn’t started favoring anyone in particular.
As for her looks, word is that she’s actually very pretty in person, but maybe her features don’t translate as strongly on screen—something that happens a lot with newer actors. It takes time to figure out camera angles, styling, and screen presence.
Bottom line: Shen Jiayu’s still at the starting line, just like her peers. Whether she makes it big depends on her future projects and how the audience responds.
