Speculation has been circulating about Meng Ziyi and Chen Zheyuan potentially co-starring in the upcoming historical drama Hu Shanwei (《胡善围》). The series is reportedly adapted from a highly rated novel of the same name on Jinjiang Literature City. Set during the Ming dynasty, the story follows Hu Shanwei, the daughter of a book merchant, who vows never to remarry after her fiancé dies in battle. Relying on her own talents, she enters the imperial court and ultimately rises to become the highest-ranking female official, known as “Shang Gong Hu.”
However, Meng Ziyi’s fan club issued an official statement on July 24 firmly denying the casting rumors. According to the statement, her schedule is already fully booked through next year, and fans were encouraged to focus on officially confirmed projects.
Currently, Meng Ziyi is filming the historical female-led drama Bai Hua Sha (《百花杀》), produced by New Classics Media. In addition, she has several upcoming series awaiting release, including Princess Shang (《尚公主》), Sanxian Mihui (《三线谜回》), and Huashan Lunjian (《华山论剑》). Given her packed schedule, the rumors regarding a collaboration with Chen Zheyuan remain unverified, and her team has already dismissed the claims.
