Recently, rumors surfaced that Zhou Ye (周也) and Wang Ziqi (王子奇) might co-star in the upcoming drama Red Dance Shoes (红舞鞋), produced by renowned director Zheng Xiaolong (郑晓龙). Set in a military arts troupe in the 1970s, the series tells the coming-of-age story of dance prodigy Lin Xuefan (林雪帆) and soldier Ma Xiaodong (马晓东), reflecting the ideals and romance of a young generation caught in the tides of history.
It is reported that actor Lin Yi (林一) was originally considered for the male lead, but due to scheduling conflicts, he chose to take on another project, Zhe Yue Liang (折月亮). Wang Ziqi’s team has denied involvement in Red Dance Shoes (红舞鞋), while Zhou Ye (周也) has confirmed her participation. Unfortunately, this means the two Central Academy of Drama classmates will not be working together this time, leaving fans hopeful for future collaborations.
Period dramas have long been a competitive arena for actors to showcase their range and earn critical acclaim. For Zhou Ye (周也), this project represents both a significant acting challenge and an opportunity for career transition. If she successfully brings her character to life, it could help her stand out among the highly competitive group of post-1995 actresses. On the other hand, if her performance or styling falls short of expectations, it could invite criticism.
Although the male lead has yet to be finalized, Red Dance Shoes (红舞鞋)—with Zheng Xiaolong (郑晓龙) at the helm—already carries strong appeal. For audiences and fans alike, it is certainly a drama worth anticipating, and Zhou Ye’s (周也) performance is one to watch.
