Actress Gong Seung Yeon is turning heads once again, this time by stepping into the glittering shoes of a former idol in the upcoming Channel A drama My Lovely Journey.
Adapted from Maha Harada’s bestselling Japanese novel, the drama follows Kang Yeo Reum (played by Gong Seung Yeon), a former girl group member who now works as a travel reporter. She once trained for seven grueling years before debuting in the group Flower, only to see it disband just a year later. Though she never stood in the center spot, her unwavering charm and quiet resilience made her unforgettable.
In the newly revealed stills, Yeo Reum stands beneath bright stage lights in a dazzling white costume. Her confident gaze and delicate gestures capture the fleeting but brilliant moments of her idol past. It’s a nostalgic glimpse into a dream once held — and perhaps, never fully let go.
Now in her fifth year as a travel reporter, Yeo Reum embarks on journeys for others, all while rediscovering herself. My Lovely Journey promises more than a typical healing drama — it’s a story about purpose, perseverance, and how the spotlight may fade but never fully disappears.
The production team shared, “Gong Seung Yeon poured her heart into this role. From practicing idol choreography in her spare time to studying stage presence and expressions, her passion shines through. Even in a short flashback, viewers will feel the depth of Yeo Reum’s journey.”
My Lovely Journey premieres August 2 at 9:20 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
