Han So Hee and Choi Min Sik are set to headline the Korean adaptation of the 2015 Hollywood film The Intern, with filming officially scheduled to begin in September.
According to the Korean Film Council’s official website, the upcoming film is currently in pre-production. Han So Hee’s agency, 9ato Entertainment, also confirmed her participation, stating, “Han So Hee will star in the upcoming Korean remake of The Intern.”
Originally directed by Nancy Meyers, The Intern tells the story of a surprising yet heartfelt friendship between a young CEO and a 70-year-old intern. The original starred Robert De Niro as the calm and wise intern Ben, and Anne Hathaway as Jules, the ambitious founder of a fast-growing fashion startup.
In the Korean version, Han So Hee will take on the role of the successful CEO, originally portrayed by Anne Hathaway. Her character is a driven entrepreneur who built her online fashion company in just 18 months. Choi Min Sik will play the seasoned intern, bringing warmth and quiet strength to his role, echoing the character originally brought to life by Robert De Niro.
The remake will be directed by Kim Do Young, known for her work on Kim Ji Young, Born 1982.
