On August 4, the production team of Genie TV’s original drama My Shining Star (directed by Choi Young-hoon, written by Park Ji-ha) released a group poster featuring lead cast members Uhm Jung-hwa, Song Seung-heon, EL, and Oh Dae-hwan, hinting at dynamic performances ahead.
My Shining Star is a tearful, comical romantic drama about a top Korean celebrity who suddenly becomes an ordinary middle-aged woman overnight. Her comeback show—25 years after her prime—brings laughter, empathy, and sparks through an unexpected partnership with the quirky yet loyal detective, Dok Go-chul. This marks Uhm Jung-hwa and Song Seung-heon’s reunion after a decade since Wonderful Nightmare, now joined by EL and Oh Dae-hwan.
The poster teases intriguing relationships and reversed fates. From national goddess to average citizen, and from elite detective to demoted officer—the series promises a wild, heartfelt journey back to lost time and glory.
Attention is also drawn to the transformed lives of Go Hee-young and Kang Doo-won. Once overshadowed by Im Sera (the former identity of Bong Cheong-ja), they are now stars in their own right. Kang Doo-won, once a timid road manager, is now a confident CEO of a global entertainment company—his reunion with Im Sera is bound to shake things up.
Director Choi Young-hoon praised the cast, saying, “Uhm Jung-hwa truly embodies the essence of a dazzling yet relatable top star, delivering both comic brilliance and deep emotion. Song Seung-heon’s unexpected humor and heartfelt charm are also must-watch elements.” He added that EL’s commanding charisma and Oh Dae-hwan’s “comic villain” appeal will elevate the drama’s unique flavor.
My Shining Star premieres on August 18 at 10 PM (KST) on ENA Channel.
