In the early hours of August 22, actor Xu Kai was hit with dating rumors involving actress Xu Lisha. Some fans dug up posts from Xu Lisha’s alleged private account that hinted at “romantic moments” and linked them to her recent Weibo update that read “I Love You So” — suggesting the “So” referred to “Soso,” Xu Kai’s nickname.
With Xu Kai’s new drama Midnight Reunion currently airing, many fans worried the rumors could impact the series’ reception. Some even flooded the Weibo comments of Xu Kai’s boss, producer Yu Zheng, urging him to clarify quickly: “Don’t let the hard work of both actors go to waste.”
Xu Lisha previously appeared in dramas such as New Life Begins and Story of Kunning Palace. At 9:10 a.m. on August 22, Yu Zheng responded in the comments section, stressing that Xu Kai is currently single and that the dating claims are “fabricated.” He explained that the two only had brief contact while filming in 2021 and have had “no connection since,” adding that “all the chat records are forged, and we have already reported this to the police.”
Just seven minutes later, Xu Lisha fired back with a Weibo post accusing Yu Zheng of lying: “From now on, every word I say will be the truth.” She admitted she is not Xu Kai’s current girlfriend but claimed they did date in the past, saying: “I broke up with Xu Kai at the end of 2022 after he was caught in a hotel with Zhao Qing.” Directly pointing fingers at Zhao Qing — an actress under Yu Zheng’s company — Xu Lisha later released several private photos of Xu Kai and asked Yu Zheng: “Surely I can’t be cheated on, get scolded, and then still be threatened with arrest?”
Yu Zheng quickly countered, alleging Xu Lisha was only making accusations “for fame.” He questioned her motives: “Is it bitterness, ulterior intent, or someone pulling strings behind the scenes? I don’t know.” Reiterating that the case has been handed over to the police, he added: “I never start trouble, but I’m not afraid of it either.”
It’s worth noting that Zhao Qing is one of Yu Zheng’s rising stars. In August alone, Yu Zheng posted four separate Weibo promotions for her. On July 28, he even published a thousand-character essay praising her as “hardworking, disciplined, positive, and full of energy.”
