TV Tokyo is set to premiere a poignant new drama this fall titled Dekite mo, Dekinakute mo, adapted from the manga of the same name by Asahina Mika. Starring Ugaki Misato in the lead role, alongside Yamanaka Jyutaro of the boy group M!LK as the male lead, the series delves into the complex realities of adult relationships, touching on themes of infertility, heartbreak, and the quiet search for personal happiness.

The story follows Monou Sui (played by Ugaki), a 32-year-old woman working at a construction company. Her seemingly stable life begins to unravel when a routine health check reveals she is infertile. Shortly after, her long-term boyfriend of seven years ends their relationship, unwilling to stay by her side. As if that weren’t enough, workplace rumors begin to swirl, pushing Sui into quitting her job. Emotionally drained and physically vulnerable, Sui hits rock bottom.

At her lowest point, she encounters Tsukidome Mao (played by Yamanaka), a younger, kind-hearted man who steps in when she’s harassed by a stranger. Their fateful meeting marks the beginning of a new chapter in Sui’s life, as she begins to explore what “true happiness” really means—not defined by others’ expectations, but by her own evolving sense of self.
With its raw emotional undertones and gentle storytelling, Dekite mo, Dekinakute mo promises to resonate with viewers navigating love, identity, and life’s quiet battles. The drama premieres on October 9th and will air every Thursday at 24:30 on TV Tokyo and select affiliated stations.
