Meguro Ren, a member of the popular group Snow Man, has been confirmed to appear in the second season of the historical drama “SHOGUN” as Kazutada, a newly created character exclusive to Season 2. His selection followed a competitive audition process, highlighting his acting skills and screen presence.

Produced by FX, a Disney subsidiary, “SHOGUN” is an epic series set during Japan’s Sengoku period, based on James Clavell’s novel of the same name. The story draws inspiration from historical figures such as Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ishida Mitsunari. The first season received 18 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Television Movie, and became the most-watched Disney+ series in Japan in 2024.
While Season 1 focused on the night before a decisive battle, Season 2 takes place ten years later, depicting the intertwined fates of two central figures: the skilled general Toranaga Yoshii, played by Sanada Hiroyuki, and John Blackthorn/Anjin, a sailor from a shipwreck who arrives in Izu and contributes to Toranaga’s campaigns with his knowledge, portrayed by Cosmo Jarvis.
The cast of Season 2 also includes Nikaido Fumi, Abe Shinnosuke, Kanai Hiroto, Douguchi Yoriko, Tommy Bastow, Miyamoto Yuko, Okuno Eita, Kori Yuka, Mizukawa Asami, Kubota Masataka, Enoki Takaaki, Kunimura Jun, and Kaneta Sho. Meguro Ren’s addition promises fresh dynamics and new storylines, enriching the narrative of this highly acclaimed series.
