The newly launched fantasy romance 《阿禅》- A Chan has drawn attention once again due to changes in its rumored cast. For months, online discussions suggested that Xing Fei would take the female lead, with many viewers believing her temperament suited the role. However, with the official announcement, Amy has been confirmed as the lead actress, sparking renewed debate.

Some fans questioned whether Amy—who is reportedly preparing for her college entrance exam—would have the time to film a full drama. Industry insiders point out that with proper scheduling and clear arrangements between the artist and agency, balancing work and academic demands is not impossible. Amy is also a platform-signed talent, meaning that before contracts were finalized, casting decisions remained fluid and adjustments were always possible.

In the early stages of casting, many factors can influence the final decision: producer preferences, platform strategy, actor availability, and even subtle shifts in story direction. Even if Xing Fei’s fee is similar to Amy’s, platforms often prefer their own artists for long-term development goals—an understandable but sometimes frustrating reality for viewers.
Directed by Chen Chang and written by Wang Jialu, A Chan stars Lin Yi and Amy and officially began filming on November 27. Adapted from Ding Mo’s novel, the story follows Zhang Jingchan and Li Weiyi as they travel back in time and swap souls through an antique pocket watch, striving to change their families’ destinies amid cycles of life and death. With filming now underway, more behind-the-scenes material and character styling are expected to be revealed soon.
