A recent episode of the dating show Secret of Us 2 sparked intense debate after participant Wang Zizun’s reactions went viral. Whether she intended to walk the “black-and-red” publicity route remains uncertain, but her heated responses have undeniably pushed her into the spotlight.

During a one-on-one date with male guest Zheng Tianhao, another female participant, Bao Jieyi, misinterpreted the situation as a continued three-person outing. She called jokingly, saying, “You have to pick me up before I can return.” The seemingly playful comment triggered an immediate emotional breakdown from Wang Zizun, who questioned the director in frustration: “Do I look like a homewrecker?” She even halted recording on the spot.

As tensions escalated, Bao Jieyi apologized and revealed her painful personal history—her parents’ divorce and being abandoned by her mother—hoping for understanding. Wang Zizun’s response, however, intensified the controversy. She said she sympathized but could not forgive, adding, “I wasn’t the one who abandoned her. I’m not her mother.”

She then accused Bao Jieyi of causing her to spend a large sum on PR and boldly predicted: “You will be scolded. My fans and haters are the same group who debate which post-00 celebrity will rise.”

From the public’s perspective, these remarks indeed brought Wang Zizun significant attention—both positive and negative. Whether this was intentional is difficult to determine. Industry insiders often mention that after long hours of filming, participants tend to forget the cameras and express their raw, unfiltered thoughts. Well-resourced teams usually protect their artists by removing problematic scenes during editing, but it is evident that Wang Zizun’s team lacks such influence.

In the end, this incident reveals more than a clash between two guests—it highlights the blurred line between authenticity and performance, as well as the delicate balance between personality and public persona in reality TV.
