In the Korean entertainment industry, past actions often resurface unexpectedly, challenging the bond between public figures and their audiences. Recently, actor Cho Jin Woong found himself at the center of controversy after media reports revealed misconduct during his youth and additional incidents in adulthood. With growing public attention, his agency SARAM Entertainment finally released an official statement, apologizing for the delayed response and clarifying the situation.

According to the agency, Cho Jin Woong did engage in wrongful actions as a minor, and the incidents went through legal procedures decades ago. However, they firmly emphasized that he was not involved in any sexual assault-related actions, countering one of the most serious accusations that had circulated.
The agency added that although more than 30 years have passed, making full verification difficult, they acknowledge that there were moments in his adulthood where poor judgment caused trouble. Cho Jin Woong reportedly reflects deeply on these actions and extends sincere apologies to those who were harmed by his past behavior.
Regarding allegations that he adopted his father’s name as a stage name to hide his past, the agency explained that this was instead a personal vow—an attempt to remind himself to live earnestly and become a better person.
While the controversy continues to unfold, the public is watching how the actor responds in the days ahead. Though the past cannot be rewritten, accountability and sincerity may determine how the story progresses from here.
