Wang Junkai has recently drawn attention for stepping into theater with his stage debut in While the World Is Still Young. Performed at Beijing’s Xiao Theater, the production marks his first appearance as a stage actor. Both the director and partner brands sent congratulatory flower stands, adding a warm sense of support to his new artistic milestone.

The two-hour performance required Wang Junkai to portray three distinct characters. From a naïvely mischievous inmate to an unhinged, chaotic persona and finally the bold, surreal “afro” figure, his five sets of makeup and costumes transitioned fluidly. The seamless switch between drastically different roles showcased his ability to adjust emotionally and physically in real time—an essential strength in theater acting. Among them, the exaggerated “afro” styling particularly captured fans’ attention, becoming a surprising highlight that revealed a new side of him.

The play’s absurd yet reflective tone allowed Wang Junkai to demonstrate deeper control over rhythm, tension, and emotional layering, signaling another step forward in his journey from idol-turned-actor to a more mature, performance-driven artist.

Looking ahead, Wang Junkai is currently in talks for the film The Victim, produced by Yaoke, which is expected to begin filming in the first quarter of 2026. The story is reportedly grounded, realistic, and thematically substantial—placing higher demands on the cast and offering Wang Junkai an opportunity to broaden his dramatic range.

Meanwhile, anticipation continues to grow for his upcoming film The Unnamed: Extraordinary Meaning. With theater breakthroughs and film projects gradually unfolding, Wang Junkai’s path as an actor is becoming increasingly diverse and promising.
