Questions about whether Zhou Keyu spent a long period living overseas have often drawn public curiosity. Based on available information, his background largely aligns with what many fans have shared: although he was born in the United States, he returned to Beijing at a very young age and did not grow up or study abroad for an extended time.

It is understood that Zhou Keyu moved back to Beijing around the age of two or three, where he spent most of his childhood and school years. His strong English-speaking ability, however, is closely linked to his early educational environment rather than prolonged residence overseas. As a child, he attended an international school, where enrollment typically requires students to hold foreign citizenship.

In such schools, the student body mainly consists of foreign nationals and ethnic Chinese with overseas citizenship, including children from diplomatic or internationally oriented families. Classes are conducted entirely in English, and everyday communication on campus also takes place in English, creating an immersive language environment.

As a result, English functions not merely as an academic subject but as a daily means of communication. From a language acquisition perspective, this kind of early and consistent exposure often leads to strong oral proficiency. Zhou Keyu’s fluency can therefore be seen as a natural outcome of long-term immersion and early education, rather than the result of later overseas experience.
