Hong Kong actor and singer William Chan, now 40, has spent recent years focusing his career on the mainland Chinese market, where he has built a solid presence across film, television, music, and variety shows. While his professional achievements have drawn steady attention, his personal life has long remained largely out of the public eye.

Over the years, Chan has kept his romantic life notably low-key. Although he was frequently rumored to be dating Chinese supermodel He Sui, neither party publicly confirmed the relationship. As a result, opinions varied, with some viewing it as speculation and others believing the couple simply chose to keep their private life separate from their careers.

That changed in October this year, when Chan unexpectedly shared a family photo on social media, accompanied by the caption “Dad, Mom, and him,” officially revealing that he had married and welcomed a child. The announcement quickly drew widespread attention, as there had been no prior public confirmation of either a relationship or a marriage, making the news particularly surprising to many fans.

Following the announcement, Chan remained silent for some time. In a recent interview, however, he addressed the situation for the first time, clarifying rumors that the marriage was rushed due to pregnancy or that the child was unplanned. He stated that neither assumption was accurate, explaining that he and his partner had been together for many years and had maintained a stable relationship away from the public eye.

According to Chan, the arrival of their child was part of a shared plan rather than an accident. He explained that while he chose not to disclose his relationship in order to protect his partner and avoid unnecessary impact on their respective careers, he did not want to take the same approach when it came to his child.

Chan emphasized that going public was a conscious decision made with his child’s future in mind. He expressed hope that, as his child grows up, they will know they were welcomed openly and with blessing, rather than hidden from the world. In his view, this openness is a way of giving his child confidence and strength to face life.

Speaking about becoming a father, Chan said he hopes to fulfill his role responsibly, documenting his child’s growth and striving to be a positive role model. For him, this new chapter represents not only a shift in personal identity but also a meaningful milestone in his life journey.
