Ahead of its premiere, the upcoming drama “The Judge Returns,” adapted from a popular web novel, has received public support and heartfelt messages from its original creators. Web novel author Lee Hae Nal and webtoon artist Jeon Dol Dol not only shared their thoughts on the adaptation but also created special webtoon-style posters to commemorate the drama.

“The Judge Returns” follows Lee Han Young, portrayed by Ji Sung, a corrupt judge who once lived under the control of a powerful law firm. After traveling ten years back in time, he is given a second chance and chooses to pursue justice by confronting and punishing great evils.

Commenting on the drama adaptation, original author Lee Hae Nal described the experience as an honor. He shared that he was curious to see how the characters he once imagined would be brought to life on screen, adding that he is eagerly anticipating the drama’s release.

Webtoon artist Jeon Dol Dol echoed this sentiment, expressing excitement about seeing how the relationships between characters would be realistically portrayed and developed within the drama’s narrative.

Both creators also praised the casting choices for their strong resemblance to the original characters. Lee Hae Nal stated that upon hearing Ji Sung had been cast, it felt as though the character he had envisioned had stepped into reality. Jeon Dol Dol highlighted Park Hee Soon’s portrayal of Kang Shin Jin, noting how accurately the actor captured the character’s cold and weighty presence. He also shared his personal delight at Won Jin Ah joining the cast, believing her performance would add greater depth to the character of Kim Jin Ah.

At the heart of the series lie the themes of justice and conflict. Lee Hae Nal expressed particular interest in how the drama will depict the confrontation between Lee Han Young and Kang Shin Jin, two individuals who uphold fundamentally different interpretations of justice while walking opposing paths.

As the artist behind the commemorative posters, Jeon Dol Dol explained that his focus was on conveying the overall atmosphere of the drama while visually emphasizing the intense tension and conflict between the two central figures.

Concluding their remarks, both creators expressed gratitude to readers who supported the original work, stating that their love made the drama adaptation possible. They encouraged viewers to continue showing interest and support for the televised version as well.

“The Judge Returns” is scheduled to premiere on January 2, 2026 at 9:40 p.m. KST.
