The upcoming historical drama To My Beloved Thief has released new details about Moon Sang Min’s character, offering a deeper look into the drama’s central figure and the mystery that drives its narrative.

To My Beloved Thief follows the story of Hong Eun Jo (played by Nam Ji Hyun), a woman who unexpectedly becomes the notorious bandit Gil Dong, and Yi Yeol (Moon Sang Min), a Joseon prince who ends up switching souls with her while chasing her down. After the sudden soul exchange, the two are forced to rely on one another, gradually saving each other and protecting the people in the process.

Moon Sang Min’s Yi Yeol is a prince who possesses everything expected of royalty—striking looks, dignity, intelligence, and exceptional skill. Yet he deliberately presents himself as a carefree loafer, hiding his true abilities to protect those closest to him. By wandering the city in search of amusement, he indulges in what appears to be an “investigator game,” frequently visiting the police bureau and casually taking on cases. Despite this playful façade, Yi Yeol has already apprehended numerous criminals through his sharp instincts and keen analytical mind.

The newly released stills show Yi Yeol fully immersed in the pursuit of Gil Dong, studying the drawings left behind at crime scenes and examining composite sketches with quiet confidence. His relentless day-and-night chase reveals a growing obsession with the elusive thief, raising the question of whether he will ultimately succeed in uncovering Gil Dong’s true identity.

Beyond the mystery, the drama hints at a deeper layer to Yi Yeol’s character. Although he is naturally gifted and highly capable, he conceals his true self behind a lighthearted exterior for reasons yet to be revealed. What past circumstances led him to suppress his talents, and what lies beneath his seemingly carefree demeanor, remain key questions that will unfold as the story progresses.

To My Beloved Thief is scheduled to premiere on January 3 at 9:20 p.m. KST, with Moon Sang Min’s nuanced portrayal of a prince torn between duty, disguise, and obsession expected to be one of the drama’s major highlights.
