Time Out has released its annual ranking of the world’s coolest streets, assessing destinations based on food, drink, culture, entertainment, and community spirit. This year, Rua do Bonjardim in Porto has been named the top street in Europe.
According to Time Out, the list is compiled from recommendations made by local editors and a global network of experts, each nominating a street that best represents their city. These nominations are then evaluated and ranked using a shared set of criteria.

Rua do Bonjardim placed third on the global list, earning recognition for its central yet relatively calm location within Porto. The street stands out for its blend of tradition and modernity, where long-standing grocery stores such as Casa Januário and Pretinho do Japão sit alongside well-known eateries like Conga, famous for its bifana sandwiches, as well as contemporary dining venues like Luffa at the Torel Saboaria hotel.
Portugal has appeared on Time Out’s rankings in previous years. In 2024, Rua da Boavista in Lisbon’s Cais do Sodré district was highlighted for its concentration of popular shops and restaurants.
Topping the global list for 2026 is Rua do Senado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, praised for its vibrant food and drink scene, strong cultural presence, and lively atmosphere. Other streets in the top ten include destinations in Osaka, Chengdu, Montreal, Brisbane, Berlin, Thessaloniki, New York City, and Ho Chi Minh City.
