JTBC’s upcoming romance drama Efficient Dating for Singles (literal title) has unveiled photos from its first script reading session, marking the beginning of production. Based on a popular webtoon, the series explores modern dating through the lens of practicality, choice, and emotional uncertainty faced by single adults today.
The reading brought together director Lee Jae Hoon, writer Lee Yi Jin, and the main cast, including Han Ji Min, Park Sung Hoon, Lee Ki Taek, Jung Hye Sung, and Kim So Hye. From the outset, the atmosphere was focused yet relaxed, allowing the actors to establish early chemistry and define the emotional dynamics between their characters.
Han Ji Min stars as Lee Ui Young, a woman whose career is firmly on track while her romantic life has remained on pause for years. During the reading, Han Ji Min set the tone with a performance that balanced warmth and sincerity. Her portrayal highlighted Ui Young’s determination to end her long dating hiatus and actively pursue love, grounding the character in experiences familiar to many viewers.
Park Sung Hoon and Lee Ki Taek play the two men Ui Young encounters through blind dates, each representing a distinctly different kind of attraction. Park Sung Hoon’s Song Tae Seob is marked by a gentle demeanor and strong inner resolve, conveying stability and emotional depth. In contrast, Lee Ki Taek brings energy and unpredictability to Shin Ji Soo, a free-spirited younger man whose expressive delivery adds tension and curiosity to the narrative, raising the question of whom Ui Young will ultimately choose.
