The author of the original web novel and webtoon “Positively Yours,” Lee Jung, has shared her thoughts on the upcoming drama adaptation, expressing both gratitude and anticipation as her work prepares to reach audiences in a new form.

“Positively Yours” is a romantic comedy centered on the unexpected consequences of a one-night stand between a man and a woman who have both sworn off marriage. Oh Yeon Seo stars as Jang Hui Won, a workaholic with no dating experience, while Choi Jin Hyuk plays Kang Du Jun, the CEO of the company where she works. What begins as an accident gradually evolves into a story about responsibility, emotional growth, and connection.

Reflecting on the adaptation, Lee Jung remarked that she felt deeply moved by the fact that a drama was being produced from a story she personally wrote. She shared her sincere hope that the series would be warmly received and loved by viewers.

Lee Jung also spoke about her excitement upon hearing the casting news. She recalled feeling both thrilled and grateful when she learned that Choi Jin Hyuk, Oh Yeon Seo, Hong Jong Hyun, and Dasom had been cast in leading roles. In particular, she noted that she was most excited to see Hong Jong Hyun portray Cha Min Uk, a caring and supportive male friend in the story.

When asked which character she feels the strongest attachment to, Lee Jung revealed that Kang Du Jun is her favorite. She explained that while writing the web novel, she intentionally created a highly idealized male character—someone filled with fantasy elements, combining traditional masculine charm with emotional flexibility and thoughtfulness.

As for the appeal of “Positively Yours,” Lee Jung described it as a story that tackles a potentially heavy subject in a way that never feels overwhelming. Rather than focusing on the provocative nature of the one-night stand, the narrative centers on how the characters take responsibility for what has already happened.

She also expressed confidence that the drama has faithfully captured the spirit of the original work. After seeing the posters and previews released so far, she praised the production for preserving its unique charm, especially highlighting the playful banter between Kang Du Jun and Jang Hui Won as something she looks forward to seeing brought to life through the chemistry of Choi Jin Hyuk and Oh Yeon Seo.

“Positively Yours” premieres on January 17 at 10:30 p.m. KST and will be available for international viewers on Viki.
