Actor Li Yapeng has recently drawn public attention after releasing a video describing serious financial difficulties linked to a long-running rental dispute. According to his statement, the amount involved has reached 26 million yuan, placing significant strain on the operations of Beijing Yanran Hospital and threatening the continuation of scheduled medical procedures. The video quickly circulated online, reigniting discussion around a charity initiative that has existed for nearly two decades.

Yanran-related charitable efforts began in 2006 with the aim of supporting children with cleft lip and palate conditions. Over time, the initiative expanded into a physical medical facility in Beijing. While the project initially benefited from high visibility and public goodwill, questions about its business sustainability and financial management have periodically surfaced.

Li stated that during the pandemic, the hospital continued performing surgeries despite operational disruptions, while fixed costs such as rent continued to accumulate. He also mentioned that during earlier financial setbacks, his former wife, singer Faye Wong, had provided assistance by selling property. This claim prompted renewed public interest in past personal and financial decisions, though such details have not been independently verified.

A notable development was the public response following the video’s release. Donation links were widely shared, and within a short period, hundreds of thousands of contributions—many of them small amounts—were recorded. Numerous donors said they or their families had benefited from cleft palate treatment programs in the past, and wished to see ongoing surgeries completed. Several high-value donations further amplified the discussion.

At the same time, skepticism remains. Some observers have called for clearer disclosure of financial records, questioning long-term viability and governance structures. As a result, the conversation has expanded beyond one individual’s predicament to broader issues of transparency, accountability, and public trust in charity operations led by public figures.

According to the latest statements, Li has pledged to disclose the use of donated funds and prioritize pending medical procedures. However, questions surrounding staff placement, potential relocation, and sustainable management remain unresolved.

Overall, the situation reflects a complex public reaction. Emotional connections formed through years of charitable work have motivated widespread support, while persistent doubts underscore the need for clearer systems and oversight. How the matter ultimately unfolds will depend on continued transparency and concrete solutions rather than sentiment alone.
