Netflix has unveiled the first character stills for its upcoming romantic comedy Boyfriend on Demand, offering a sneak peek at BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and actor Seo In Guk in their new roles. The reveal took place on January 21 during the “Next on Netflix 2026 Korea” event in Seoul, where Netflix presented its creative direction and lineup for the year.

Directed by Kim Jung Sik of Work Later, Drink Now and Not Others, Boyfriend on Demand is a romantic comedy that blends workplace realism with a touch of fantasy. The story follows an overworked webtoon producer who turns to a virtual dating simulation service to experience the romance she lacks in real life.

Jisoo stars as Seo Mi Rae, a webtoon producer who has grown accustomed to a romance-free life due to her exhausting daily routine. Her perspective begins to shift when she unexpectedly gains access to a “Boyfriend on Demand” device, transporting her into a virtual world where she goes on dates with seemingly perfect men, forcing her to reconsider what she truly wants from love.

Seo In Guk plays Park Kyung Nam, Mi Rae’s coworker and professional rival. Known in the office as a reliable ace, he is someone Mi Rae would prefer to avoid, yet his hidden secret adds an extra layer of intrigue to their dynamic and to the story as a whole.

At the event, producer Bae Jong Byeong posed the question, “If there were a program that allowed you to meet your ideal type through a virtual platform, would you subscribe?” He added that Netflix expects Boyfriend on Demand to resonate strongly with female viewers and promised plenty of heart-fluttering moments throughout the series.

Boyfriend on Demand is scheduled for release on Netflix in the first quarter of this year.
