Actor Feng Lei, widely recognized for his memorable villain roles, has recently drawn public attention for reasons beyond his work. In January 2026, actress He Haoyang shared wedding photos with Feng Lei on social media, revealing that the couple had been married in secret for eight years. The disclosure surprised many viewers, as their marriage dates back to 2018 and had remained entirely out of the public eye.

Now 50 years old, Feng Lei is best known for portraying Zhao Ruilong in In the Name of the People, a role that left a lasting impression thanks to his sharp, menacing performance. He later appeared in dramas such as Prosecutor in Action, often cast as antagonists whose presence, though limited in screen time, carried significant narrative weight. His naturally stern and intense appearance has made him a frequent choice for villainous roles.

Off screen, however, Feng Lei leads a markedly low-key life. His marriage to He Haoyang—who is nine years younger and now 41—went unnoticed largely because neither actor maintains high public exposure. The couple has a daughter, and the newly released wedding photos, featuring both traditional Chinese and Western styles, reflect a restrained and private approach. Feng Lei was 43 when he married, making him something of a late-marriage example within the industry.

He Haoyang, a graduate of the Beijing Film Academy, has appeared in dramas such as When Adolescence Meets Menopause, The Right Time to Get Married, and I’m a Beijinger for My Children. While her career has been steady, her public profile has remained modest. Industry chatter suggests the couple met during the production of In the Name of the People, where Feng Lei acted and He Haoyang worked as a script supervisor. Their relationship reportedly developed after the shoot, leading to marriage a year later.

Even after the news broke, Feng Lei did not capitalize on the attention. He avoided public displays or online interaction related to the announcement, maintaining the same understated approach he has long adopted. This contrast—fierce and calculating villains on screen, quiet and reserved family man off screen—has only deepened public interest in him.

Professionally, Feng Lei continues to work steadily. On January 10, 2026, the crime suspense web drama Hidden Lines, directed by Ren Jiangtao and focused on anti-fraud themes, began filming, with Feng Lei starring alongside Felix Wong. Viewers are curious whether he will once again portray a villain or take on a more righteous role. He also appears in the currently screening film Ma Teng, Don’t Go, and has previously featured in popular dramas such as A Lifelong Journey, The Story of Xingfu, A Love for Dilemma, Northwest Years, and A Good Life.

From The Road Homeward to Sister Duohe and Love Is Not Blind, Feng Lei has earned praise for his deep understanding of character and his immersive performances. Unlike many in the industry, he rarely speaks about himself, focusing instead on the inner logic of the roles he plays. He has often stated that whether a character is good or evil, the key is to portray them as fully human.

The revelation of his eight-year marriage is less a calculated secret than a reflection of his personality and professional philosophy. Feng Lei may not dominate headlines, but his presence endures through the authenticity of his performances. For audiences, that quiet dedication may be exactly what makes his characters linger long after the screen fades to black.
