TVING’s hit drama “Study Group” has officially confirmed Hwang Minhyun’s return for its second season. On January 27, the production team announced that Hwang Minhyun will once again take on the lead role of Youn Ga Min.

A central figure behind the success of Season 1, Hwang Minhyun will continue to anchor the series in Season 2. Following his discharge from military service last December, he selected “Study Group” Season 2 as his first project back, a decision that has heightened anticipation for how the story and character will evolve.

According to the production team, Hwang Minhyun now has a complete and nuanced understanding of Youn Ga Min, allowing Season 2 to explore new dimensions of the character. Viewers can expect deeper insight into Ga Min’s motivations—particularly why he is so determined to excel academically—as well as the dilemmas he faces along the way. The team also promised action sequences that are more dynamic and visually striking than those seen in the first season.

Based on a popular webtoon, “Study Group” is a high school action-comedy that follows Youn Ga Min, a student who dreams of academic success but finds himself naturally gifted only in fighting. Set at Yuseong Technical High School, infamous for its chaotic environment, the series follows Ga Min as he forms a study group and plunges into the unforgiving world of college entrance exams. Season 1 achieved notable global reach, ranking in the Top 5 on Viki across more than 140 regions.

YLAB, the webtoon’s production company, revealed that Season 2 will significantly expand the scale of the story. With their bond stronger than ever, Ga Min and the study group members will confront a powerful force that threatens not only their school but students nationwide. The upcoming season aims to deliver heightened tension and cathartic action, setting the stage for a more intense and expansive continuation of the series.
