Chinese actor Leo Luo (Luo Yunxi) has issued a formal statement through Weibo, addressing an AI-generated short drama that allegedly infringes upon his likeness rights. His management team confirmed that legal action has already been initiated.
The controversy centers on a short drama reportedly produced using artificial intelligence technology, which is accused of replicating the character design and visual traits associated with Leo Luo’s previous screen roles. The work, believed to be circulated under the title Yong An Gui: The Emperor’s Pursuit, features a character strikingly similar to Leo Luo’s portrayal in the historical fantasy drama Till the End of the Moon (original Chinese title 长月烬明).

Online users conducted comparisons using AI tools such as DeepSeek and found an exceptionally high level of similarity between the short drama character and Leo Luo himself. In some cases, AI systems reportedly identified the character as the actor. Additionally, certain scenes have been questioned for potentially referencing or indirectly reusing original footage from the source drama.
In response, Leo Luo’s management released a statement on Weibo on the 26th, stating that the production is suspected of seriously violating the actor’s portrait rights and related legal interests. The team confirmed that formal rights protection measures are underway and that they have lodged official complaints with relevant platforms, demanding the immediate cessation of all infringing activities while reserving the right to pursue further legal responsibility.
