Chinese actress Wu Jinyan is reported to begin filming her new historical drama Feng Bu Qi as early as March. The project has drawn steady attention since its development was first revealed, and is widely regarded as a key work following the actress’s return after childbirth.

Adapted from a popular novel, Feng Bu Qi is set in a turbulent era and centers on the struggle over a mythical imperial relic known as the “Imperial Star.” The story follows an empress burdened by fate as she embarks on a path of revenge amid political intrigue and shifting power. The drama’s production plans surfaced in 2024, with casting later confirmed for Wu Jinyan alongside Wei Zheming. Guo Xiaoting and Yan Yuchen are also set to appear in the series.
Wu Jinyan experienced a renewed surge in popularity in 2024 with the success of the historical drama The Double (Mo Yu Yun Jian). Shortly afterward, she announced her marriage to actor Hong Yao and welcomed her first child, a daughter, in February last year. After completing her maternity leave, she returned swiftly to acting, starring in the historical drama Jiang Shan Wei Pin opposite Chen Zheyuan, followed by the modern suspense series Rebirth: Origin of the Gate.
With Feng Bu Qi now expected to enter production in March, industry watchers are closely following Wu Jinyan’s post-comeback trajectory. Her continuous involvement in high-profile projects underscores her active presence in the industry and reinforces expectations for her next historical role.
