The upcoming romantic comedy “One-of-a-Kind Romance” (literal title), based on a popular webtoon, has officially confirmed its main cast. Following Red Velvet’s Joy as the female lead, actors Kim Hyun Jin, Shin Hyun Soo, and Kang Na Eon have joined the lineup, drawing growing attention to the project.

The drama tells the story of Gong Yu Il, an ordinary young woman navigating the hardships of job hunting while working part-time at a convenience store. Her predictable routine takes an unexpected turn when she becomes entangled with top actor Tak Mu Yi and idol Ryu Min, transforming her everyday life into something far from ordinary. While the premise follows a familiar “ordinary person meets celebrity” formula, the narrative places emphasis on emotional healing, career anxiety, and quiet wish fulfillment.

Joy’s Gong Yu Il is portrayed as resilient and optimistic despite her struggles. Though she dreams of becoming a writer, reality forces her to pursue a corporate job, grounding the character in relatable dilemmas. The role continues Joy’s recent trend of portraying warm, emotionally grounded characters rather than purely idealized heroines.

Kim Hyun Jin takes on the role of Tak Mu Yi, a beloved A-list actor whose glamorous image masks deep psychological scars caused by years of severe stalking. His connection to Gong Yu Il begins with a novel she wrote long ago—one that helped him survive a personal slump—adding emotional depth to their romantic trajectory.

Shin Hyun Soo appears as Kang Hee Soo, a gentle star chef who seems flawless on the surface but carries an air of quiet mystery. His interactions with Gong Yu Il introduce an alternative emotional current to the story. Kang Na Eon portrays Joo Da Hong, a free-spirited actress with both passionate fans and vocal critics. As Tak Mu Yi’s longtime admirer and childhood acquaintance, her presence naturally creates tension and an unintentional rivalry with Gong Yu Il.

According to the production team, the drama aims to offer audiences a relatable yet escapist experience, allowing viewers to live out a once-imagined fantasy of romance with a star. With its balanced cast and familiar but comforting premise, “One-of-a-Kind Romance” positions itself as a lighthearted, emotionally accessible addition to the romantic comedy genre.
