The Taiwanese–Korean co-produced program Walking the Hidden Mountain Paths recently held its launch press conference in Taiwan. Hosted by Peng “Xiao Dao” Xiaodao, Kim Ha Neul, Nam Woo Hyun, Lee Jun Young, and Muscle Sansan, the show documents a 10-day journey along traditional Hakka mountain trails. As the only Taiwanese and Hakka representative among the hosts, Xiao Dao admitted feeling pressure at first, but was soon surprised by how relaxed and down-to-earth his Korean co-hosts were, noting that they have already planned to visit his home together in the future.

Although Lee Jun Young was unable to attend the press event in person, he sent a video message to greet the audience. The hosts shared that filming was physically demanding, with rugged terrain and sections requiring them to clear paths themselves. Nam Woo Hyun joked that he felt like giving up every morning before climbing, only realizing on the final day that the journey mirrored life itself, with changing paths and continuous growth as long as one keeps moving forward.

Kim Ha Neul, who enjoys nature travel, admitted that some routes were more challenging than expected. Over time, however, the cultural encounters and local cuisine left a lasting impression, and she expressed hope for a second season, describing the experience as a happiness she would never forget.

Reflecting on the production, Xiao Dao said he initially worried that the hardships might affect the mood, given how long it can take for entertainers to let go of their public personas. Instead, the cast immersed themselves wholeheartedly from the start. He also credited Muscle Sansan for bridging language gaps, allowing the group to bond quickly.

Xiao Dao, a previous Golden Bell Award recipient, spoke modestly about future recognition, while Kim Ha Neul reacted enthusiastically upon learning about Taiwan’s prestigious television awards, openly expressing her desire to win one someday. Other cast members shared personal anecdotes from filming, from thoughtful gestures during hot weather to emotional moments of self-doubt and encouragement behind the scenes.

With its blend of cultural exploration and authentic human interaction, Walking the Hidden Mountain Paths is set to premiere on February 8, offering viewers a glimpse into both the physical challenges of the journey and the genuine camaraderie formed along the way.
