Kim Hyang Gi, Cha Hak Yeon, N.Flying’s Kim Jae Hyun, Sohn Jeong Hyuck, and Kim Dong Gyu have been confirmed to star in the upcoming drama The Absolute Value of Romance (literal title), drawing attention with its youthful cast and distinctive premise.

Set in a high school environment, The Absolute Value of Romance follows the story of a teenage girl who lives an ordinary student life by day while secretly writing romance novels at night. The fictional teachers she creates as idealized male leads begin to appear in her real life in unexpected ways, placing her at the center of a series of unpredictable school events. The drama is directed by Lee Tae Gon, known for his work on Hello, My Twenties!.

Kim Hyang Gi will take on the role of Yeo Ui Ju, a character who moves fluidly between reality and imagination. Her double life as both a student and a novelist allows the story to explore emotional depth and personal growth from a youthful perspective.

Cha Hak Yeon stars as Ga Woo Su, a reserved yet strikingly intelligent mathematics teacher with an IQ of 156 and membership in Mensa. His character is expected to bring intellectual charm and a composed presence, forming on-screen chemistry with Kim Hyang Gi.

The drama also features a lineup of teachers with contrasting personalities. Kim Jae Hyun portrays Noh Da Ju, a multilingual Japanese language teacher known for his bright and friendly demeanor. Sohn Jeong Hyuck plays Jung Gi Jeon, a physical education teacher characterized by confidence and strength, while Kim Dong Gyu appears as Yoon Dong Ju, a gentle and considerate Korean language teacher.

Scheduled to premiere in April, The Absolute Value of Romance aims to blend youthful imagination with real-life emotions, offering a fresh take on the school drama genre.
