The realist television drama “Riding the Wind” officially announced the completion of filming on February 21, 2026. Directed by Zang Xichuan and written by Zhao Dongling, the series stars Johnny Huang, Wan Peng, Zhang Chi, Ge Si, and Song Jiateng. Special leading roles are played by Liang Jie and Jing Chao, with guest appearances by Ni Dahong and Nine Kornchid.

Adapted from the non-fiction work “Express China” by Zhu Xiaojun and Yang Liping, the drama spans the years 2000 to 2017. It follows the 17-year entrepreneurial journey of Lu Yunxiang against the backdrop of China’s rapidly expanding private courier industry.
After the sudden passing of his elder brother, rural youth Lu Yunxiang is forced to leave school and take over the family-founded Xuntong Express. Facing fierce competition in an emerging industry, he chooses to prioritize long-term growth over short-term profit, introducing professional talent and investing in technological development. As the company expands, he restructures its operational model by reclaiming franchise outlets through equity swaps and transitioning from a franchise-based system to a directly operated structure.

By tracing one man’s perseverance through nearly two decades of transformation, “Riding the Wind” reflects the broader evolution of China’s private delivery sector. Through its realist narrative approach, the series aims to portray the resilience, strategic decisions, and personal sacrifices behind entrepreneurial success in a changing era.
