On March 3 at 19:35, 2026 Lantern Festival Wonderful Night officially premiered, broadcast simultaneously on Henan TV and Elephant News across online and television platforms. The program brought together a diverse lineup including Chen Yao, DAO boy group, Fan Shengnan, Jiang Dunhao, Li Xinwu, Luo Wenbo, Ren Hong’en, Sun Xiangyu, Angel Children’s Choir, the dance drama Qiuci troupe, and Zhang Li. From actors and dancers to choir members and opera performers, Henan TV once again embraced its signature cultural fusion approach.

Continuing the classic structure of the “Wonderful Night” series, 2026 Lantern Festival Wonderful Night was woven together through three creative short films titled Awaiting Reunion, Sending Reunion, and Meeting Is Reunion. The program balanced majestic tributes to landscapes with intimate depictions of everyday life. The children’s chorus performance of “Kunpeng” focused on youth and growth, featuring a red steed traversing the stage as young voices conveyed a powerful message of vitality and national strength. The song “Ode to Spring” recreated the imagery of Xin Qiji’s poetry, blending traditional elements such as Song Dynasty floral crowns and lantern riddles under the same moonlight of past and present.

The instrumental performance “Drumming the Earth” was filmed on location at the Yellow River’s Qian Kun Bay, Hukou Waterfall, and atop Mount Song, merging the grandeur of natural scenery with the resonance of traditional instruments to convey blessings for the new spring season. The dance piece “Just in Time to Meet” recreated the romance of a Lantern Festival market, presenting scenes of scholars and maidens crafting lanterns and composing riddles, reviving the heartbeat of “a night as bright as day.” Meanwhile, “Harmony in Resonance” brought together Qiuci music and Central Plains dance, blending the sounds of the jie drum and zither on one stage.

Among the most relatable performances was the original rap “Thriving Day by Day,” which spotlighted everyday Chinese cuisine and family reunion dinners, capturing the warmth of morning kitchen smoke and festive gatherings. The opera segment “Opening the Troupe’s Chest” told the story of a delivery worker who dreams of performing traditional opera, persisting in his passion until encountering a master who grants him a stage opportunity, reinforcing the idea that ordinary people also belong under the spotlight.
From Chen Yao’s mysterious costume transformation to Jiang Dunhao’s interactive lantern riddles, from the pure harmonies of Angel Children’s Choir to the live percussion by the DAO boy group, 2026 Lantern Festival Wonderful Night infused the Lantern Festival with romance and cultural dialogue through light and melody. With its blend of tradition and modern storytelling, 2026 Lantern Festival Wonderful Night once again highlighted Henan TV’s distinctive cultural narrative during the festive season.
