The historical romance drama “Pursuit of Jade” (逐玉), starring Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei, has officially announced its premiere date of March 6. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Tuanzi Laixi—originally titled Hou Fu Ren Yu Sha Zhu Dao—the series tells the story of a contract marriage that gradually transforms into genuine love against the backdrop of political turmoil. Even prior to broadcast, the drama has drawn significant attention, with combined reservations across two major streaming platforms surpassing seven million.

At the center of Pursuit of Jade (逐玉) is the fateful meeting between butcher’s daughter Fan Changyu (Tian Xiwei) and the injured nobleman Xie Zheng (Zhang Linghe), whom she rescues on a snowy night. Unknown to outsiders, Xie Zheng is in fact a marquis living under an assumed identity, burdened by unresolved family grievances. The two enter into a mutually beneficial marriage agreement: she secures stability for her household and her position as its head, while he conceals his true status to quietly investigate long-buried conspiracies. What begins as calculated cooperation gradually deepens into emotional attachment through shared daily life.

As unrest spreads, the narrative expands beyond domestic warmth. Determined to uncover the truth behind her family’s past, Fan Changyu steps into the military sphere, ultimately evolving from a resilient townswoman into a commanding presence on the battlefield. Meanwhile, Xie Zheng sheds his disguised persona and reemerges as a decisive military figure. Their reunion amid war redefines their bond, shifting from cautious partnership to steadfast alliance forged through adversity.
Beyond its romantic arc, Pursuit of Jade (逐玉) incorporates elements of political intrigue and historical injustice. A case dating back seventeen years entangles both families in a complex web of power struggles. As hidden truths surface, trust and shared resolve become essential to overcoming betrayal and shifting allegiances. The story ultimately frames their journey as one of mutual redemption—suggesting that, like jade refined through fire, resilience preserves inner clarity despite external turmoil.

Directed by Zeng Qingjie and written by Zou Yue, the production aims to balance emotional depth with layered political storytelling. An original soundtrack created by JJ Lin with lyrics by Fang Wenshan further underscores themes of fate and perseverance.
Pursuit of Jade (逐玉) will premiere simultaneously on Tencent Video and iQIYI on March 6, with the first ten episodes available to subscribers. As anticipation continues to build, attention remains focused on how Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei will bring dimension to a story that intertwines personal growth with sweeping historical change.
