Historical Action Film Launches Production
The upcoming historical action film The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf has officially begun filming. The project brings together a notable cast including Park Bo Gum, Joo Won, Jung Jae Young, and Lee Sun Bin.
Set in the period shortly after the fall of Goguryeo, The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf tells the story of a man who loses his memory and becomes a slave before entering a high-stakes tournament centered around a legendary sword. The film is directed by Kim Han Min, known for his work on the historical action film War of the Arrows.
Filming for The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf officially began on March 3, marking the start of a large-scale production combining historical storytelling with intense action sequences.

Unique Script Reading with Action Rehearsals
Prior to the start of filming, director Kim Han Min and the cast gathered for an activity-based script reading session. Unlike a typical table read focused only on dialogue, this session included both line practice and action choreography.
The activity reading functioned more like a rehearsal, allowing the actors to explore both the narrative and the physical movements required for the action scenes. By combining dialogue delivery with combat practice, the cast were able to immerse themselves more deeply into their characters before production began.

Park Bo Gum Takes on a Warrior with Lost Memories
In The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf, Park Bo Gum plays the role of Chil Seong, a warrior who has lost his memory. The character’s journey begins with him living as a slave gladiator before entering the sword tournament that ultimately transforms his destiny.
Through the role of Chil Seong, Park Bo Gum is expected to demonstrate powerful sword-fighting skills and a dramatic character arc that evolves from hardship toward heroism.
Joo Won Portrays a Rival Warrior
Joo Won takes on the role of Gyepil Haryeok, also known as Qibi Heli. The character represents the Göktürks in the tournament and stands as the main rival to Chil Seong.
In the story of The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf, Gyepil Haryeok is portrayed as a cold and formidable warrior. Joo Won will perform demanding action sequences, including scenes that require fighting with two swords, highlighting the character’s fierce charisma and combat skill.
Additional Key Roles in the Story
Jung Jae Young appears in the film as Heuk Su Gang, the steadfast leader of the Goguryeo restoration forces known as the Damul Army. His character represents the determination to restore the fallen kingdom.
Meanwhile, Lee Sun Bin plays Maya, a member of the restoration army who is portrayed as determined and capable in action scenes. Her role adds another dynamic element to the story’s conflict and resistance narrative.

An Expanding International Cast
In addition to the main cast, The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf also features a diverse supporting lineup including Vietnamese star Trấn Thành, as well as Kim Jae Chul, Choi Gwi Hwa, Park Myung Hoon, and Lee Soon Won.
With filming now underway, The Sword: A Legend of the Red Wolf is shaping up to be an ambitious historical action project combining large-scale storytelling, intense combat sequences, and a strong ensemble cast.
