A new science fiction drama may soon bring together Lee Yoo Mi and Kim Nam Gil on screen. The upcoming SBS project Nightmare is currently in development, and both actors are reportedly reviewing offers to take on leading roles in the series.
Blending futuristic technology with crime investigation, Nightmare is drawing attention for its unusual premise and dark thematic setting.

Lee Yoo Mi Positively Reviewing Offer
On March 11, the agency representing Lee Yoo Mi confirmed that the actress has received an offer to appear in Nightmare and is currently reviewing it positively.
If she accepts the role, Lee Yoo Mi will portray Jang Gyu Eun, a police officer whose life has been shaped by a traumatic accident in her childhood. The character carries deep emotional scars but grows into someone determined to confront her past.
Jang Gyu Eun is described as a figure who refuses to be defined by tragedy. Instead, she overcomes her painful memories and pursues revenge without hesitation, becoming a strong and driven presence within the story.
Kim Nam Gil Also Considering the Project
Earlier reports revealed that Kim Nam Gil had also been offered a leading role in Nightmare. On March 6, his agency confirmed that the actor is currently reviewing the offer, though his participation has not yet been finalized.
In the drama, Kim Nam Gil is in talks to play Kim Tae Yi, a detective working in the Violent Crimes Unit 1 at the Southern Police Station. Known for his sharp instincts and relentless investigative style, Kim Tae Yi is the kind of officer who is willing to confront the most dangerous cases.
Despite losing his parents at a young age, the character maintains a strong sense of justice. One distinctive trait sets him apart from typical detectives: rather than relying on a firearm, he often carries and uses a knife during field operations.
A Dark Vision of Technology and Justice
The story of Nightmare unfolds in a world where advanced artificial intelligence technology has gained the ability to enter human dreams. In this setting, criminals no longer face traditional prison sentences.
Instead, they are subjected to a punishment designed by a mysterious dark hero. Through the use of AI, nightmares are implanted into the minds of offenders, preventing them from sleeping for even a single night. The psychological torment becomes a new form of justice.
Against this backdrop, Nightmare explores how technology can manipulate the human subconscious while also examining the large-scale crimes connected to such power.
Production Plans Underway
As anticipation builds, Nightmare remains in the pre-production stage. The drama is expected to begin filming in the near future as casting discussions continue.
If both actors confirm their participation, Nightmare could mark an intriguing collaboration between Lee Yoo Mi and Kim Nam Gil, bringing together intense character drama and speculative science fiction.
