With the arrival of warmer spring weather, one of Beijing’s seasonal sights has quietly returned. Along the Erdaogou section near Shilipu in Chaoyang District, mountain peach blossoms have begun to bloom, forming a nearly 100-meter-long “pink blossom corridor.” The soft pink and white flowers stretch along the water’s edge and reflect in the river, creating a picturesque scene that has already attracted many residents and visitors eager to capture the early signs of spring.
According to the Beijing Municipal River and Lake Management authorities, the peach blossoms in this area usually begin blooming in early to mid-March. The peak flowering period typically arrives from mid- to late March, lasting around seven to ten days depending on weather conditions.

Waterfront Upgrade Brings New Viewing Experience
The Erdaogou riverside area has undergone significant improvements in recent years. Previously, the riverbank faced issues such as exposed slopes, limited pedestrian space, and insufficient safety facilities, which affected visitors’ experience while viewing the blossoms.
To address these issues, authorities carried out a riverside space renovation project between the Bali Zhuang pedestrian bridge and the Shilipu Road bridge section of the river. After the renovation was completed at the end of 2024, the 396-meter river stretch was transformed into a more accessible public space.
The project added six waterside platforms, two viewing decks, and a 330-meter riverside wooden walkway. Additional landscaping, seating areas, lighting, and guidance signs were also installed, creating a safer and more comfortable environment for people to enjoy the seasonal scenery.
Today, the two sides of the Erdaogou riverbank are lined with peach trees covered in pink-and-white blossoms. Swaying gently in the breeze and mirrored in the clear water below, the flowers create a serene and refreshing atmosphere. Visitors strolling along the walkway pause to admire the blossoms, take photographs, and enjoy the cheerful mood of early spring.

Recommended Viewing Spots
Several locations along the river provide especially scenic viewpoints for visitors.
The North Bank Riverside Boardwalk viewing platform is considered the main recommended location. Located about 350 meters south of Exit D of Shilipu Station on Subway Line 6, this area offers a 330-meter wooden boardwalk and multiple waterside platforms. With abundant sunlight and dense blossoms, it is an ideal spot for close-up photography and relaxed walks.
Across the river, the South Bank viewing platform near the Shilipu Road bridge offers a quieter environment with a wide perspective of the river and the flower-lined banks. The open view allows visitors to capture sweeping scenes of the water and blossoms.
Another notable vantage point is the Bali Zhuang pedestrian bridge, located near the Jingchao Real Estate building. From the bridge, visitors can observe the winding river framed by rows of peach blossoms, with the city skyline forming a layered urban backdrop.
Along the northern riverbank near the Beijing Jingshi Law Firm building, peach blossoms appear alongside modern architecture. In the late afternoon, the setting sun casts warm light across the petals, creating a particularly atmospheric scene.
Even the roadside bicycle lane along the north bank has become a popular photo spot. Peach branches extend beyond the railing, allowing visitors to capture casual street-style photos with blossoms seemingly brushing their shoulders.

Visitor Tips and Best Viewing Time
Officials from the Tonghui River Management Office maintain the area daily through water cleaning, plant care, and facility inspections. During the blossom season, additional staff patrol the area to ensure visitors can enjoy the scenery safely and responsibly.
Visitors are reminded not to pick flowers, climb over safety railings, or enter the river, and to help maintain the clean and peaceful environment.
The best time to view the blossoms is usually between early and mid-March, with the peak bloom occurring from mid- to late March. For photography, early morning between 9 and 10 a.m. offers soft lighting and fewer crowds, while the late afternoon around 4 to 5 p.m. provides dramatic backlighting that enhances the dreamy atmosphere of the pink blossoms.
As the peach blossom season is brief, residents and visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the sunny spring days and experience the fleeting beauty of Beijing’s early spring along the Erdaogou riverside.
