JTBC’s upcoming drama We Are All Trying Here has unveiled a new poster featuring Koo Kyo Hwan, highlighting a story centered on perseverance, self-doubt, and the quiet resilience of chasing one’s dreams.

In We Are All Trying Here, Koo Kyo Hwan takes on the role of Hwang Dong Man, a man who feels left behind as he watches those around him succeed. Surrounded by seemingly accomplished peers, he becomes consumed by feelings of frustration, envy, and self-doubt. In search of meaning and inner peace, he embarks on a personal journey that reflects the struggles many face in an increasingly competitive world.

The newly released poster captures Hwang Dong Man inside his studio, a space filled with the traces of time and persistence. Stacks of scripts and books crowd the room, leaving little space to move, while an old camcorder and worn-out equipment hint at the long years he has dedicated to his dream of becoming a film director. For others, these two decades without visible success may appear insignificant, but for him, they represent a continuous battle marked by setbacks and renewed determination.

At the center of the poster, Hwang Dong Man stands firm, holding his camera and staring defiantly at the world. His line, “Why does my life have to meet your standards?” directly confronts societal expectations and harsh judgments, echoing the dismissive remarks he has endured, such as being told to give up or that success is out of reach. The moment encapsulates his refusal to let others define his worth.

According to the production team, Hwang Dong Man’s 20-year journey is not one of stagnation, but rather a process of building inner strength while confronting feelings of inferiority and worthlessness. Through his relentless pursuit of his dream, the character is expected to resonate with viewers who are navigating their own uncertainties and setbacks.

By focusing on emotional realism and personal growth, We Are All Trying Here aims to deliver a story that is both relatable and quietly inspiring. The drama invites audiences to reflect on the meaning of success and the courage it takes to continue moving forward despite external pressures.

We Are All Trying Here is scheduled to premiere on April 18 at 10:40 p.m. KST.
