Chinese actor Yu Shi has reportedly been removed from the list of performers for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, orchestrated by the national broadcaster CCTV. This decision emerged following recent allegations of infidelity with his ex-girlfriend, actress Kitty Zhang.
Details of the Allegations
According to a report by Sinchew and ZNews, Yu Shi, 28, had previously announced his participation in the gala via social media, expressing his excitement to perform. However, the latest announcement from CCTV, which revealed the final list of performers, did not include Yu. Sources suggest that this exclusion was a direct consequence of the infidelity rumors that surfaced after Kitty Zhang’s appearance on the talk show I Have a Friend.
Management’s Response and Yu’s Background
During her talk show appearance, Zhang, 37, mentioned a story about a friend whose younger partner was unfaithful, prompting speculation that she was referencing her relationship with Yu Shi, with whom she was romantically linked in 2022. In light of these allegations, Yu’s management company quickly issued a statement, denying the accusations and asserting that the information circulating on social media is false. Furthermore, they announced their engagement of a lawyer to combat derogatory remarks aimed at Yu, urging the public to refrain from perpetuating unfounded rumors.
Yu Shi began his career in entertainment after participating in the singing competition Chinese Idol in 2014 and later joined South Korea-based SM Entertainment as a trainee. Although he did not debut as a K-pop idol, he found success upon returning to China, notably with his role in the 2023 epic fantasy film Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms.
