On the July 25 episode of KBS 2TV’s music variety show “The Seasons – Park Bo-gum’s Cantabile” (shortened as Cantabile), singer 10CM, jazz musician Maria Kim, Ha Hyunsang, and rookie group Baby Don’t Cry appeared as guests in a special “Fairies of Music” episode, showcasing vibrant performances and heartfelt conversations.
10CM Opens the Night with His Signature Charm
Kicking off the night, “performance fairy” 10CM delivered a captivating stage with his upcoming track “Love is Six Strings” from his first full-length album in eight years. Caught off guard by Park Bo-gum’s presence, he humorously admitted, “I planned to stay chic, but smiled the moment I saw him.” The mutual admiration continued as Bo-gum praised 10CM’s guitar skills, to which the singer responded, “Park Bo-gum is the ultimate dream for anyone who loves pianists.” The duo teamed up for a lively performance of “Reach You,” currently topping music charts.
10CM also revisited his viral vocal challenges, performing songs by TOUCHED, KISS OF LIFE, and BOYNEXTDOOR. Bo-gum, who had previously learned BOYNEXTDOOR’s signature vocal style, joined in with perfect harmony. Wrapping up with the pre-release track “Dance,” 10CM left fans eager for the full album, saying he hopes to create “music that feels like a cozy convenience store you can always stop by.”
Jazz Professor Maria Kim Praises Star Student Bo-gum
The highlight of the “Starry Night” segment featured Bo-gum’s real-life graduate school professor, jazz artist Maria Kim. Calling him “the most successful of all my students,” she proudly recalled his days at university, “He played beautifully, got along with his peers, and always brought extra effort beyond the assignments.”
Bo-gum expressed deep gratitude, saying his graduate studies deepened his love for music and led him to become Cantabile’s host. Maria Kim showcased the spontaneity of jazz with a jam session and a sultry rendition of “Fly Me to the Moon.” She then joined Bo-gum in a duet of “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” impressing the audience with Bo-gum’s smooth jazz vocals. She couldn’t help but exclaim, “Bo-gum, you should definitely do jazz!”
Currently active in the U.S. and performing internationally, Maria Kim concluded with a heartfelt performance of “Please Send Me Someone to Love.”
Ha Hyunsang Delivers Emotion, Then Surprises with Dance
As the “youth fairy,” Ha Hyunsang offered a cooling musical breeze with “Monsoon.” Bo-gum praised his versatility, saying, “Your voice has all three layers—boy, young man, and mature adult.” The two shared a moving stage for Loveholic’s “If Only You Are Here,” with Bo-gum accompanying on piano.
Ha Hyunsang then showed his unexpected side by performing the viral “Soda Pop” dance challenge from Netflix’s K-pop Demon Hunters. Wearing “magical sunglasses,” he charmed the crowd with quirky moves, prompting Bo-gum to say, “You’re a bundle of charm—why did we only meet now?” He closed with an emotional punch through his final song “Fireworks.”
Rookie Group Baby Don’t Cry Impresses in Band Version
Only 23 days post-debut at the time of recording, rookie group Baby Don’t Cry impressed with a band version of their debut track “F Girl,” performing alongside house band Jungmae & Kungchi-Tachi. Their name, meaning “not fragile,” was revealed to have been coined by (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon. “At first, we thought BDC stood for ‘Barbie Doll Collection,’” they joked, sharing behind-the-scenes stories.
Produced by Psy and Soyeon, the group shared their trust in their label P NATION. Member Lee Hyun, dubbed “Little IU,” recalled performing with IU at age 12 on Fantastic Duo, and revisited her 9-year-old performance of “If You Don’t Dream,” drawing heartfelt applause.
Ending their segment with a bold cover of (G)I-DLE’s “TOMBOY,” Baby Don’t Cry expressed their ambition: “We just debuted, but we want to be someone’s inspiration someday.”
