KBS2’s weekend drama The Five Brothers continues its strong performance as it nears its finale.
The 52nd episode, aired on July 27, delivered a mix of emotional depth and character developments, drawing a nationwide viewership rating of 20.9% (Nielsen Korea). One particular scene — a surprise pregnancy revelation — pushed peak ratings to 23.6%, marking a high point for the series.
Newlyweds Face Conflict — And a Twist
As Dong Seok (Ahn Jae Wook) and Gwang Sook (Uhm Ji Won) settle into married life, they find themselves at odds over whether to have children.
After dreaming of the sun and moon appearing in the sky at once — a possible pregnancy dream — Dong Seok suggests, “What do you think about having a child?” Gwang Sook, however, hesitates, citing concerns about her age.
Undeterred, Dong Seok presents a “wish fulfillment agreement” that Gwang Sook had signed in the past. He gently pleads, “I want to have a child who looks just like you — someone with a beautiful smile and a warm heart. That’s my biggest wish right now.”
The couple visits the hospital for a prenatal check-up, only to receive unexpected news — Gwang Sook is already pregnant.
Household Tensions and a Tearful Reconciliation
Meanwhile, Ok Boon (Yoo In Young) hires a housekeeper without consulting Mi Soon (Park Hyo Joo), sparking a heated argument.
To ease the tension, Cheon Soo (Choi Dae Chul) and Heung Soo (Kim Dong Wan) pretend to argue as a distraction. Heung Soo even declares, “If it’s going to be like this, I’ll just move out!”
Eventually, Mi Soon opens up about her struggles with infertility and sincerely apologizes to Ok Boon. Their heartfelt embrace provides a quiet moment of healing and reconciliation.
Hope for Dokgo Tak’s Release
Later, Cheon Soo proposes writing a petition for a sentence reduction for Dokgo Tak (Choi Byung Mo), joined by Beom Soo (Yoon Bak), Kang Soo (Lee Seok Ki), and Se Ri (Shin Seul Ki).
The effort brings new hope for Dokgo Tak’s case, with Beom Soo telling him, “We’re going to get you out of that detention center.”

The drama is set to conclude with its final 53rd and 54th episodes, airing on August 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. KST on KBS2.
