It has come to light that acclaimed vocalist Sohyang quietly went through a divorce two years ago, ending her 25-year marriage.
On September 3, KQ Entertainment confirmed that Sohyang and her husband officially parted ways in 2023. The singer had been married since 1998 to her husband, a former member of the Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) band POS—the very band she later joined after their marriage.
In a statement released to the public, KQ Entertainment clarified that the decision was made through mutual agreement and respect, emphasizing that there was no wrongdoing on either side. They asked the public and media to avoid speculation or misrepresentation regarding the matter.
“Based on plenty of discussion and mutual respect, Sohyang and the other party agreed to go their separate ways and root for one another. The divorce was not the fault of either party,” the agency stated. “We ask that you refrain from distorted or groundless reports and comments.”
KQ Entertainment further noted that it would continue to fully support Sohyang’s career, expressing hope that fans would do the same.
Sohyang is widely recognized for her powerful vocal range and emotional delivery, often referred to as one of South Korea’s most gifted vocalists. Known for both her solo performances and contributions to various soundtracks and concerts, she remains an influential figure in the Korean music industry.
As she enters a new chapter in life, both personally and professionally, fans are encouraged to continue supporting Sohyang and her music.
