Positioned as a reboot and evolution of the original Unpretty Rapstar series, this new edition will center on creative expression, artistic individuality, and cross-cultural collaboration. Contestants will be involved in the full spectrum of the production process—including music creation, choreography, styling, and video direction—allowing them to showcase their personal styles and develop as well-rounded artists.

Leading the show is Soyeon of (G)I-DLE, who will take on the dual role of MC and main producer. Known for her all-rounder skills in rap, songwriting, and producing, Soyeon left a memorable impression during the original Unpretty Rapstar era and now returns to helm the next chapter of the franchise—this time as a mentor and visionary.

Joining Soyeon in the main producer lineup are several high-profile figures from both Korea and Japan:

  • Gaeko of Dynamic Duo, a pioneer and respected figure in the Korean hip-hop scene

  • Riehata, Japan’s top choreographer and dancer, known for her powerful stage presence and trend-setting style

  • Iwata Takanori, a member of Sandaime J Soul Brothers and a successful solo artist, bringing his experience in both performance and entertainment

According to the production team, “Top producers from different fields have come together for this project. We ask for your interest and support for the four main producers who will lead this brand-new journey of growth.”

As a collaboration between the creators of Unpretty Rapstar and Street Woman Fighter, expectations are high for the synergy and bold new direction this show promises. With hip-hop as the connecting force between cultures, HIP POP Princess is set to offer not only fierce competition but also a platform for cultural fusion and self-discovery.

Unpretty Rapstar : HIP POP Princess premieres on October 16 on Mnet.
