TV Asahi’s upcoming period action drama Kamen no Ninja Akakage is generating buzz with its latest casting announcement. Starring Sato Taiki (EXILE / FANTASTICS) in the lead role, the series has now confirmed its supporting cast: Kimura Keito (FANTASTICS), Kato Ryo, Oshinari Shugo, and Emoto Tokio will all join the story set in the age of samurai and shadows.
Set during the turbulent era when Oda Nobunaga was on the verge of unifying Japan, the story unfolds in the mysterious southern region of Lake Biwa. There, a secretive religion known as Kinmekyo has taken hold, spreading fear with rumors of a deadly curse that befalls nonbelievers. Concerned by the growing influence of the cult, Nobunaga enlists a covert operative — a masked ninja — to uncover the truth lurking behind the faith.
That masked figure is none other than Akakage, a young man who lives in the shadows as a shinobi. As he dives deeper into the secrets of Kinmekyo, Akakage must navigate dangerous deception, supernatural whispers, and the politics of a fractured land.
With a compelling blend of historical intrigue, action, and mystery, Kamen no Ninja Akakage promises a fresh take on the classic ninja tale. The drama premieres October 26 at 24:10 on TV Asahi.
