The upcoming historical action film “Shin Kaishaku: Bakumatsuden”, starring Muro Tsuyoshi and Sato Jiro, has unveiled its theme song “Ryu” performed by Fukuyama Masaharu, along with a brand-new trailer.
The movie is directed by Fukuda Yuichi, known for his sharp comedic storytelling and acclaimed live-action adaptations such as HK: Hentai Kamen, Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku), Saint☆Onii-san, Shin Kaishaku: Sangokushi, and Under Ninja. Both Muro and Sato are frequent collaborators in Fukuda’s works, making this reunion particularly anticipated.
Story Overview
Set at the end of Japan’s Edo period, the film tells a story of war and brotherhood, reinterpreted through Fukuda’s unique lens. It follows two legendary figures — Sakamoto Ryoma (played by Muro Tsuyoshi) and Saigo Takamori (played by Sato Jiro) — who rose from chaos to shape the future of a nation on the brink of transformation.
The star-studded supporting cast includes Yamada Takayuki, Hirose Alice, Watabe Atsuro, Iwata Takanori, Yamoto Yuma, Matsuyama Kenichi, Sometani Shota, Katsuji Ryo, Kura Yuki, Yamashita Mizuki, Kaku Kento, Kote Shinya, and Takahashi Katsumi.
“Shin Kaishaku: Bakumatsuden” is set to hit theaters on December 19.
