Rising actress Minami Kotona is set to take the lead role in the upcoming live-action horror film “Yakin Jiken: The Convenience Store,” adapted from the hit horror game created by Chilla’s Art.

The story centers on a female college student who takes a part-time job at a convenience store and soon finds herself entangled in a series of terrifying and inexplicable events that unfold during her late-night shifts.

Originally developed by the popular indie game studio Chilla’s Art, the game has gained a massive following among Gen Z audiences for its unsettling atmosphere, realistic visuals, and psychological tension. On YouTube alone, live-play videos of “The Convenience Store” have accumulated over 60 million views, making it one of the studio’s most viral titles.

The film adaptation is directed by Jiro Nagae, known for his work on “Kisaragi Eki” and “Resort Baito,” both of which showcased his talent for blending psychological horror with everyday settings. Fans of the game and horror enthusiasts alike are eagerly anticipating how Nagae will bring the eerie, slow-burning tension of the original game to life on screen.

“Yakin Jiken: The Convenience Store” is scheduled to premiere on February 20, 2026, promising a chilling cinematic experience that captures the fear and isolation of working alone in the dead of night.
