Record Revenue and Ridership Growth

Amtrak has clearly made significant strides in recent years, culminating in a remarkable fiscal year 2025. With record ridership and revenue, the company’s recent accomplishments have positioned it as a leader in the revival of train travel across the United States. From October 2024 to September 2025, Amtrak recorded an astounding 34.5 million customer trips, marking a 5% increase over the previous year. This surge in passengers also correlates with a substantial increase in revenue, emphasizing the growing preference for rail travel among Americans.

Enhancements for Future Journeys

Moreover, Amtrak’s financial success translates to promising infrastructure upgrades for travelers. The recent introduction of new services, including the restoration of train connections between Mobile and New Orleans, showcases the company’s commitment to enhancing travel options. Riders are already witnessing the benefits of the fleet refresh, highlighted by the entry of the next-generation Acela trains, which aims to provide a more modern and comfortable travel experience across the Northeast Corridor.

Infrastructure Investment and Ongoing Improvements

In line with its growth strategy, Amtrak invested $5.5 billion in various infrastructure improvements during the last fiscal year. This included upgrades to tracks, stations, and significant projects like the East River Tunnel rehabilitation in New York. Such enhancements are vital for accommodating the increasing demand for rail travel, ensuring that Amtrak not only meets travelers’ needs but also positions itself for operational profitability by 2028.
