Recently, Hong Kong media reported that Stephen Fung responded to his wife Shu Qi’s candid comments about wanting children, which she mentioned during a recent interview. Fung stated that although many people feel the world is chaotic and therefore hesitate to have children, if everyone thought that way, humanity would eventually disappear. “If possible, we should put in some effort,” he said, expressing his straightforward view.

When asked whether the couple plans to continue trying for pregnancy, Fung replied lightly, “Adoption doesn’t require too much effort,” indicating that both he and Shu Qi are open to adoption as an option for expanding their family.
On November 16, 2025, Shu Qi addressed the topic publicly for the first time during a talk show hosted by Carol Cheng. She clarified that she and her husband have never chosen to live childfree. “It’s not that we don’t want children. We’ve always wanted them, but it just hasn’t happened,” she said.
After marrying Stephen Fung in 2016, Shu Qi reportedly took a year off from work to focus on pregnancy efforts, but due to health issues, she was unsuccessful. She later shifted to a more relaxed mindset, describing children as “a gift from heaven” and saying she would welcome them whenever fate allows.
With both Shu Qi and Stephen Fung now openly addressing the matter, the public has shown renewed interest in the couple’s family plans.
