Lin Yun rose to fame through The Mermaid, and although her acting projects in the following years were relatively limited—with few leading roles—her commercial value has remained consistently strong. In fact, her earning power as a lifestyle and beauty influencer far surpasses her income from acting.

During the peak of the short-video and social-commerce boom, Lin Yun ranked among the top female celebrities in product recommendations. Her sponsored posts commanded exceptionally high rates, reaching up to 1.2 million RMB per placement, with lower-end rates still around 600,000 RMB. From these collaborations alone, she earned 20 to 30 million RMB annually, easily exceeding her income from film and television work. In other words, achieving a financial “small target” was never an issue for her; it has long been accomplished.

As for her living situation in Beijing, Lin Yun has been known to choose practical living arrangements rather than flaunting luxurious real estate. There have indeed been periods where she preferred renting. This choice had little to do with finances and everything to do with flexibility—actors often move frequently for productions, and renting provides convenience and freedom.

Overall, Lin Yun’s career focus has shifted from traditional acting to high-value content creation and commercial collaborations. Although her current social commerce revenue is lower than her peak years, it still significantly surpasses her acting income, allowing her to maintain steady financial growth and career stability despite fluctuations in public visibility.
